Otto Vogl Award

established in memory of Otto Vogl (1927-2013), professor of Polymer Science and a foreign member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences

The Otto Vogl Award is granted to young scientists who intend to do a doctorate or PhD and need financial support for a short period of time in order to apply for funding.

Requirements and Qualifications:
Eligible candidates for the Otto Vogl Award are students who have written an outstanding master thesis in any field of chemistry at an Austrian university and have completed their Master degree in the year before submission.
Applicants do not have to be Austrian citizens, but they must intend to do their doctorate or PhD at an Austrian university or research institution.

Selection Process:
Each year, the winner of the Otto Vogl Award is chosen by a committee composed of members of the Austrian Academy of Sciences and representatives of Austrian universities, who may be supported by reviewers from abroad.
In autumn of each year, the recipient is honored in an award ceremony at the Austrian Academy of Sciences.

The award amounts to EUR 5.000,-.

Deadline for submissions: March 31, 2017

  • Online application form
  • CV (tabular form) incl. list of publications
  • Letter of reference by the supervisor of the doctoral thesis
  • Proposal of the doctoral thesis (5-10 pages)
  • Master’s thesis incl. reviews
