JESH - Joint Excellence in Science and Humanities

The applications of the candidates shortlisted in the preliminary selection procedure will be reviewed by international experts. At least one meaningful review will be sought for each application. The decision to award the JESH fellowships will be based on the reviews and the reports of the individual committee members.

Applicants have no recourse to legal action.

Selection criteria

  • The scientific quality of the proposal and its relevance to the field of research
  • The impact of the proposal (e.g. effects on “brain circulation”, added value for research landscape, synergy effects) for the applicant’s country of origin (JESH Incoming) or the focus country (JESH Outgoing)
  • The newness of the cooperation and its anticipated long-term effect
  • The candidate’s academic qualifications

New collaborations will be given preference over existing ones.
