Selection

The selection process for the archives and travel grants of the Austrian Academy of Sciences takes approx. three months.

The members of the awarding committee are experts nominated by the OeAW. Fellowships are awarded on the basis of external reviews.

If applications are considered by persons to whom individual committee members have a close professional or private relationship, those committee members will not take part in the decision-making process.

Significant selection criteria are the applicants’ academic qualifications, the scholarly quality of the research project and demonstration of the necessity of the research stay abroad for the project’s completion.

Applicants have no entitlement of the award of a grant. The committee’s decision is final.
