Application

To apply for a GO.INVESTIGATIO Fellowship of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, applicants must complete the following steps:

I GENERAL GUIDELINES

Language of application

Applications can be submitted in either German or English.

Subsequent alterations

It is not possible to alter the application or to provide missing documents after submission. Only applications that fulfil the formal criteria will be accepted for review.

II ONLINE FORM

Upon receipt of the application, the applicant’s data are entered into the database of the Department of Fellowships and Awards.

III PREPARING DOCUMENTS

Application documents

• Tabular CV incl. publication list
• Letter of recommendation from a scientist considering the following aspects:
  - Qualification of the applicant as well as originality and relevance of the research project to the specialist field
  - Clarity of the research questions and methods
  - Necessity of the research stay abroad for the successful implementation of the project
   

Project documents

• Abstract (summary of the research proposal, max. 1 page)
• Detailed research proposal for the stay abroad (min. 3-10 pages) considering the following aspects:
  - detailed description of the problem
  - work stages including method(s) and timetable
  - reason for the research stay abroad selected indicating the sources and materials you intend to work or to consult
  - select bibliography

IV SUBMITTING DOCUMENTS

All prepared documents must be submitted via the online form.

Fill in the online form and upload the documents as a total of 3 PDF files.

State your name and title of research project in the abstract and the project exposé.
The individual files may not exceed 3 MB. Protected files will not be accepted.

The files are to be given the following names:

• Application_Surname.pdf   (application documents)
• Abstract_Surname.pdf   (summary)
• Proposal_Surname.pdf   (project description)

Afterwards, you will receive a document that you will have to print and sign. Return a scan of the signed form in PDF format (single file) as an attachment to a reply to the received email (click reply button). IMPORTANT: The default subject and recipient must not be changed.

Process

Upon receipt of the application before the deadline, we will check that it is complete and fulfils all formal criteria before filing it with a project number (A-number) in the database of the Department of Fellowships and Awards.

After applications have been checked for completeness, applicants receive confirmation by email.
