POST-DOC-TRACK Application

The following steps must be completed to apply for a Post-DocTrack Fellowship of the Austrian Academy of Sciences:

I GENERAL GUIDELINES

Language of application

Applications can be submitted in German or English. All documents must be written consistently in one language.

Subsequent alterations

It is not possible to alter the application or to provide missing documents after submission. 

Only applications that fulfil the formal criteria will be accepted for review.

Exclusion of reviewers

It is possible to exclude from the review process up to three potential reviewers who may not be well disposed towards the proposed project.

II ONLINE FORM

Upon receipt of the application, the applicant’s data are entered into the database of the Department of Fellowships and Awards.

III PREPARING DOCUMENTS

Application documents
  1. Tabular CV incl. list of publications
  2. Letter of motivation including a career and research plan for the next 3–5 years (max. 1–2 pages)
  3. Letter of recommendation by the supervisor of the doctoral thesis outlining the applicant’s academic career to date, academic potential and career prospects
  4. Abstract of the doctoral thesis (max. 5 pages)
  5. Examiners’ reports on doctoral thesis
  6. Copies of Diplom/Master’s and doctorate/PhD certificates and doctorate
Project documents

It is possible to apply for both funding objectives or for one of the two objectives.

1. Application to complete publications:
Abstracts of the planned articles/contributions incl. the planned place of publication (journal/publishing house) and the planned date of submission (timetable)
Length: 2-3 pages per article/contribution

If it is planned to revise the dissertation for publication as a monograph:
Presentation of the planned changes/additions as well as indication of the planned place of publication (journal/publishing house) and the planned date of submission (timetable)
Length: 3-8 pages

2. Application for funding for developing an application for third-party funding:
Exposé of research proposal (5–10 pages) incl. the funding body, the funding line and the planned date of submission (timetable)
Length: 8-10 pages

Dissertation and publications
  • Dissertation
  • 1–3 of the applicant’s most important publications (incl. indication of the place of publication)

 

IV SUBMITTING DOCUMENTS

Please complete the online form (see point II) and upload your documents as  PDF files. Only documents in PDF format will be accepted.
The individual files may not exceed 5 MB. 

Please name the files as follows:

  • Application_surname.pdf (=application documents, pt 1-6)
  • Project documents Publications_surname (=project documents, pt 1)
  • Project documents Third party funding_surname (=project documents, pt 2)
  • Dissertation_surname.pdf
  • Publications_surname.pdf

Protected files cannot be accepted.

Process

Upon receipt of the application before the deadline, we will check that it is complete and fulfils all formal criteria before filing it with a project number (A-number) in the database of the Department of Fellowships and Awards.

After applications have been checked for completeness, applicants receive confirmation by email.
