The steps involved in applying for a JESH scholarship are as follows:

I GENERAL GUIDELINES

Application language

Applications must be written in English.
 

Subsequent amendments

After the submission deadline, it is not possible to make changes to applications that have already been submitted or to submit missing documents.

Only applications which fulfil the formal criteria will be considered for assessment.
 

Resubmission

In the event of an unsuccessful application, it is possible to resubmit a reworked proposal at earliest within the next JESH call as long as the conditions of application are fulfilled.

Applications submitted a second time must be clearly indicated as such. A cover letter accompanying a second submission must outline the progress that has been made since the first submission.

II APPLICATION DOCUMENTS

Applications must include both general documents and project documents.
 

General documents must include:

• CV and list of publications (please highlight your five most important publications)
   
• Applicant's questionnaire describing the following aspects: scientific background and qualifications of the applicant, information about the collaboration with the host institute and the planned brain circulation effects.

• Statement issued by the host institution including an outline of the proposed cooperation, an assessment of the pre-existing contacts with the applicant, the reason for the invitation, and the potential long-term effects. The host confirmation is an essential part of the evaluation of the proposal. Please make sure that the host answers the questions sufficiently and comprehensibly.

• Confirmation of employment/affiliation in country of origin by the head of the institution

Project documents must include:

A project exposé (max. 5 pages) covering the following aspects:

1. Short abstract
2. Research question
3. Methodology
4. State of research
5. Work programme (including timetable)
6. Expected outcome
7. Bibliography

III SUBMITTING DOCUMENTS

The completed documents must be uploaded using the online form. The applicants will then receive a document that needs to be signed, scanned and submitted by email.

The applicants are requested to complete the online form and upload the documents as two PDF files:

Processing

Upon receipt, applications will be checked to ensure that they comply with the formal criteria. Applicants will receive an email confirmation once this check is complete.
