Johann Wilhelm Ritter von Mannagetta Award for the History of Medicine

The Johann Wilhelm Ritter von Mannagetta Award for the History of Medicine is given for outstanding research on the history of early modern medical practice (ca. 1500 to 1850).

Submission are invited from scientists aged 45 and under (allowances are made for paternal leave) who are working at an Austrian university or research institution at the time of application.

Selection procedure

The winner is selected by an awards committee appointed by the Austrian Academy of Sciences. The committee may also consult external experts.

    1. tabular CV including list of publications
    2. abstracts of the publications submitted (max. 1 page each, German and English)
    3. a brief outline of the type and extent of the applicant´s contribution to the selected publications
  2. Publications:
    1. a selection of a maximum of 3 publications submitted for the award, as PDF files

Applications may be submitted in German or English.

Processing

Upon receipt of your application, we will check that it is complete and meets the formal criteria and it will then be entered into the database of the Department of Fellowships and Awards.

Once the application has been checked for completeness, the applicant will receive confirmation by email.
