Waldo Tobler GIScience Award

The Waldo Tobler GIScience Award was intended to stimulate scientific advancement in the fields of Geoinformatics or Geographic Information Science.

The prize is named after the late Emeritus Professor Waldo Tobler of the Department of Geography at the University of California, Santa Barbara.

The Waldo Tobler GIScience Award was given to scientists who have produced outstanding works in the fields of Geoinformatics or Geographic Information Science and have contributed to the sustained advancement of these fields.

The Commission for Geographic Information Science was closed on July 31, 2023.
