The Critical Infrastructure Award is intended to recognize young researchers in the fields of (business) informatics, communications engineering, electrical engineering, automation engineering, or related areas for outstanding achievements related to safety-critical infrastructures (e.g., transport systems, energy networks, telecommunications networks).

The term "critical infrastructure" refers to organizations and institutions essential for the functioning of the state, society, and economy. This includes the supply of energy, water, transport, telecommunications, finance, as well as medical care (see also https://te-am.net/kritische-infrastrukturen-kritis-eine-uebersicht/).

The purpose of the award is to promote outstanding achievements of young researchers within their PhD/doctoral studies, with a particular focus on supporting the completion of a dissertation.

Target Group

Applications are invited from young, highly qualified researchers in the dissertation phase.

Eligibility

  1. Austrian citizens enrolled in a PhD/doctoral program at a university in the DACH region (Germany/Austria/Switzerland), and
  2. Doctoral candidates at Austrian universities (regardless of citizenship).

In both cases, the start of the PhD/doctoral program must not be more than four years prior to the submission deadline.
