Application Documents and Submission

Applications may be submitted in German or English.

A complete application must include application documents, project documents, and at least three publications.

Application Documents

  1. Tabular CV
  2. List of publications
  3. Letter of motivation (1–2 pages), including reasons for applying:
    1. Positioning of the dissertation topic within the critical infrastructure sectors
    2. Demonstration of applicability to critical infrastructures: how and when will the chosen approach be applicable?
    3. Copy of the approval of the dissertation topic
  4. Statement from the dissertation supervisor

Project documents

Exposé of the dissertation project (5–7 pages, excl. bibliography), including:

  1. Presentation of theoretical foundations and research question(s)
  2. Information on previous work already completed
  3. Work plan for completing the dissertation

Publications

At least three peer-reviewed scientific publications in PDF format (abstract and full article), published or accepted for publication as first author (workshop proceedings / conference proceedings / journal). These may also result from previous research (e.g., master’s thesis).

Optionally, applicants may also submit a video (e.g., to visualize complex technical processes). This is not mandatory and can be arranged upon request.

 

Submitting the documents and upload via online form

The prepared documents are to be submitted via the online form.
Upon receipt of the completed form, the applicant's data will be entered into the database of the Department of Fellowships and Awards.

ONLINE FORM

Fill out the online form and upload the application documents in three PDF files. Protected files will not be accepted. The size of each file must not exceed 5 MB.

Confirmation of receipt of the documents

After you have uploaded the application documents, you will receive a PDF document by e-mail that you will have to print and sign. Return a scan of the signed form in PDF format (single file) as an attachment to a reply to the received email (click reply button).
IMPORTANT: The default subject and recipient must not be changed.

Processing

After an application has been received on time, it will be checked that it is complete and meets the formal criteria and then entered into the database of the Department of Fellowships and Awards with a project number (A-number).

When all applications have been checked for completeness, all applicants will receive an e-mail confirmation.
