The Bader Award for Art History is given to support work on a doctoral thesis or a research project.

Applications are invited from highly qualified doctoral candidates (up to 32 years of age) or post-docs (up to 40 years of age) from Austria  conducting research in Austria and abroad on painting and drawing between 1500 and 1850.

Selection Procedure

Prize winners are decided by the General Assembly of the OeAW at the recommendation of an awards committee on the basis of international peer review and a hearing of the best-ranking candidates.

Application Documents

  • Tabular CV and list of publications
  • Letter of recommendation from doctoral supervisor or a scholar
  • Exposé of the research project (ca. 5–10 pages)
    The following points must be covered:
    -   general aims and a detailed outline of the problem
    -  Project plan including methodology
    -  Timetable
    -   Bibliography

Afterwards, you will receive a document that you will have to print and sign. Return a scan of the signed form in PDF format (single file) as an attachment to a reply to the received email (click reply button). IMPORTANT: The default subject and recipient must not be changed.

Processing

Upon receipt of your application, we will check that it is complete and meets the formal criteria and it will then be entered into the database of the Department of Fellowships and Awards.

Once the application has been checked for completeness, the applicant will receive confirmation by email.
