Applications for the Richard G. Plaschka Award are invited from scholars who have produced extraordinary achievements in the field of Eastern, East Central and Southeastern European history and are under 40.
Prize winners are decided by the Division of Humanities and the Social Sciences at the recommendation of an awards committee which can also seek external reviews.

- Letter of recommendation or expert reviews of the scholarly work(s) submitted
- Abstract(s) for the scholarly work(s) submitted
- One copy of no more than three of the applicant’s most important publications
