Best Paper Award

Anniversary Fund of the City of Vienna for the OeAW

The Best Paper Award rewards the best scientific  work – either a monograph or an original article – published or accepted for publication by a publishing house or peer-reviewed journal a year before the submission deadline.

Submission procedure

Submission is open to researchers up to max. three years after completing their doctorate/PhD studies and who have been working at a research institution of the Division of Mathematics and the Natural Sciences of the OeAW when they conducted the study.

The application must be submitted by the first author. If two or more co-authors participated in the publication, the nature and scope of the applicant’s contribution must be explained and the co-authors' agreement must be submitted.

Nominations or self-nominations may be submitted for the award.

Selection procedure

The prize is awarded by the board of trustees of the Anniversary Fund of the City of Vienna for the OeAW at the recommendation of an awards committee put together by the Division of Mathematics and Natural Sciences.
 

Submission documents

• Tabular CV including a list of publications
• Abstract of the work submitted (1 page max.)
• Scientifc work submitted (PDF)
• In the case of works with several authors:
• - description of the extent of the applicant's contribution
  - AND written consent from the co-author

The completed documents are to be uploaded via the online form.

Fill in the online form and upload the documents as a total of 2 PDF files. Protected files will not be accepted.

The individual files may not exceed 10 MB. The files are to be given the following names:

• Application_Surname.pdf  (i.e. application documents)
• Publication1_Surname.pdf  (i.e. scholarly work submitted) 

Processing

Upon receipt of your application, we will check that it is complete and meets the formal criteria and it will then be entered into the database of the Department of Fellowships and Awards.

Once the application has been checked for completeness, the applicant will receive confirmation by email.

At the request of the awarding committee or the reviewer, a printed copy of the scholarly work can be requested subsequently.
